Terms of service

Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Barcelona Netball Club! We’re so pleased to have you on our team! By signing up via our app to become a member of the club you agree to pay a monthly or yearly fee for the whole season (September to June) and also to our player code of conduct. We love our club and remember we are volunteers, so we hope that by working together we can keep our club going and fun for everyone.

1. Membership

  1. Membership of the club is open to anyone aged 18 or over.
  2. Members must pay an annual or monthly membership fee.
  3. Members must register their details within the club app (Sportmember) and complete your profile fully (photo, position, any allergies etc.)

2. Free Trials

  1. We are always happy to welcome new players! New members are eligible for 1 free trial session to see if the club is a good fit.
  2. Trial session must be booked in advance via the online form you can find our our website.
  3. If you no-show for your trial session you will need to, re register to attend again
  4. Following your trial sessions, you are required to sign up for a monthly or annual membership to continue attending training and games.
  5. We reserve the right to prioritise our waitlist for trial spots to ensure we maintain a balance of positions and ability levels.
  6. Deliberately trying to gain access to more than one free trial session is not permitted.  (For instance knowingly registering multiple times)

3. Training and Games

  1. Training sessions are held three times a week in Barcelona
  2. Members should try to attend training regularly - it means more socialising and we all improve together!
  3. Members must register for training before arrival via the SportMember app.
  4. If you are not able to attend a training session please decline the event on Sport Member
  5. Aim to arrive on time -  It helps the coaching team run sessions smoothly if they know how many people will be there.
  6. We know that plans change, so please aim to let us know via Sportmember you are no longer attending or are running late.

4. Team Selection

  1. Teams will be selected based on various factors including availability, position and sometimes (but not always!) ability - beginners are welcome!.
  2. Whilst we try hard to accommodate preferred court positions as stated on a player’s profile but to ensure balanced teams, this is not always possible.

5. Equipment

  1. The club provides netballs and bibs for training and games.
  2. Members must provide their own sports shoes and attire. We recommend wearing netball trainers as they have the most grip and ankle support, but understand this is not always possible. Please therefore wear sport trainers with a decent grip to avoid slipping and injuring yourself and others
  3. We need your help to look after our equipment.  Please help us by getting the kit out and safely returning after each game - if we all pitch in, it makes life alot easier!
  4. We encourage you to sign up for these tasks via the app each week.

6. Conduct

  1. Members must conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times.
  2. Members must not use foul language or engage in violence.
  3. Members must not harass or discriminate against other members.
  4. Never argue with the umpires. If you disagree, clarify these rules with the Umpires during a break, or after the game.
  5. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of umpires, or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is unacceptable and prohibited.
  6. Be a good sport. Applaud all good play, whether by your team or the other team.
  7. Treat all players as you would like to be treated.
  8. Cooperate with your committee, coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no club!!
  9. Don’t use derogatory or offensive language.
  10. Play fair and in the spirit of the game of netball

7. Safety

  1. Members must follow all safety instructions given by the club coaches and officials.
  2. Members must not engage in any activity that could put themselves or others at risk of injury.
  3. Netball is a no-contact sport, so please try to obey this for the safety of everyone.
  4. We request you update your profile on Sportmember with emergency contact information or any medical information.

8. Insurance

  1. Members are responsible for their own personal accident insurance and the club takes no responsibility for injuries caused during sessions, as well as any belongings.

9. Payment

We’ve got some fixed costs (courts, the website, Sportmember, etc.) that we need to cover, no matter how many players show up to training. This helps us keep everything running smoothly and ensures we have a predictable budget for the season. We also want to keep things as easy as possible for our volunteer committee members, so we kindly ask that you commit to paying your membership fee on time please:

  1. Payment of fees must be made at the time of registration or monthly based on subscription to secure placement in a team.
  2. You'll be notified when your subscription is due,  please pay on time to keep coming classes and have app access.
  3. if you miss two payments without notifying us we will deactivate your account and you will need to re join.
  4. Membership fees do not include uniform costs.
  5. To help the committee budget, please make sure you pay on time and if any outstanding payments are in place you will need to clear these before joining any training sessions or socials.
  6. If a payment fails, a fee of €7.50 will be charged to cover administrative costs. Please make sure you have sufficient funds when payments are due.

9. Termination of Membership

  1. Leaving the club
Whilst we would be sad to see you go you are welcome to leave the club at any time if you need to.
  2. If you decide to take a break, no worries we understand that life (and shit!) happens!—you can always come back next season! If you miss two months of payments without letting us know, we’ll assume you’ve decided to leave and we’ll remove you from Sportmember. This means you’ll lose access to chats, training, and tournaments, but you’re always welcome to rejoin in the future!
  3. Re-joining mid season
If you decide to rejoin the club mid-season, we’d love to have you back! Just make sure to clear any outstanding payments before you return to training, tournaments, or any club events.
  4. Pausing membership payments for injury/ pregnancy etc. If you need to pause your membership (due to long-term injury, pregnancy, or other exceptional circumstances), you can request a break from payments. Please note that pausing is only for long-term absences and is not available for short-term absences such as holidays, Christmas breaks, or individual months where training cannot be attended.
  5. If you paid upfront for the season and can’t play, you might be eligible for a partial or full refund. We just ask that you reach out to our amazing committee members before the next payment is due to discuss your situation. We’ll review each case individually and make the final call based on the circumstances.
  6. The club may terminate the membership of any member who breaches the terms and conditions.

11. Media and Photography Policy

  1. To celebrate and promote our club, we may occasionally take photographs or videos during training sessions, matches, and social events.
  2. By joining and participating in Barcelona Netball Club activities, you consent to the use of such images and videos for club promotional purposes, including our website and social media channels.
  3. If you would prefer not to be included in any photography or videography, or if you wish to withdraw your consent at any time, please notify the committee via email. We will respect your privacy and take reasonable steps to ensure you are excluded from future promotional materials.
